You could call this a marriage between chicken marsala and salisbury steak. I came up with this recipe after just feeling so bored today with ground beef – but no more! My dad’s exact words at the dinner table: “This is great!” Enough said!

Serves: 5 servings
Ingredients
- ground beef – 2 pounds
- eggs – 2
- seasoned salt – 1 teaspoon
- dried basil – 1 teaspoon
- dried oregano – 1 teaspoon
- garlic powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- onion powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- dried parsley – 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper – to taste
- worcestershire sauce – 1 teaspoon
- water – 1/2 cup
- dry red wine – 1/2 cup
- garlic – 1 clove, minced
- mushrooms – 12 oz., sliced
- dried basil – 1/2 teaspoon
- dried oregano – 1/2 teaspoon
- dried parsley – 1/2 teaspoon
- salt – to taste
- black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl. In a smaller bowl, whisk the eggs with spices. Pour over the meat and mix well with your hands. Form into about 14 thin patties. In a large skillet, heat some olive oil. Add the beef patties and cook over medium heat about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to serving dish and keep warm. Repeat with remaining patties. This took me 3 batches. For the sauce, mix the water with the Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture into the hot pan you just used for the beef and scrape to release browned bits. Add the wine and bring to a simmer. Stir in the garlic, mushrooms and seasonings. Simmer until wine is mellowed down a bit and mushrooms are cooked. Pour the sauce over the beef and serve.
