Note from Heather: As a paleo teenager, I love finding other paleo teenagers and college-age paleo bloggers. I’ve been blogging here for nearly two years now, and I’ve been blessed to be able to connect with many other paleo food bloggers in my age group. The Paleo: The Next Generation series is meant to highlight their blogs and accomplishments while proving that you can eat paleo – and be a blogger! – at any age!
Today’s interview is with Julia of Run Cook Eat Repeat Paleo. I knew I had to interview Julia as soon as I found her Instagram account and blog; she’s 17 years old and has a ton of food sensitivities as well as hypothyroidism; but that doesn’t stop her from being an amazing inspiration and sharing amazing real-life paleo style recipes on her blog and Instagram!
Q: Tell us a little about yourself and how you found paleo/real food eating?
My name is Julia and I am 17 years old! I have an Instagram, @run.cook.eat.repeat.paleo where I share my paleo recipes! I found out about the paleo lifestyle after I was tested for food intolerance and my intolerances are almost all of the foods not allowed on to the paleo diet. So, I decided to follow the paleo lifestyle to accommodate my intolerances! It also helps with my hypothyroidism.
Q: How did you get into blogging and what’s been your favorite thing about it?
I got into blogging when I realized that I wanted to share my recipes and creations with the world to promote a healthy lifestyle! My favorite thing about it is probably helping people and seeing people trying my recipes.
Q: What’s the best thing about being a paleo teenager?
The best thing about being a paleo teenager is reaction I get from people! They are always like
“I could never do that”.
Q: What’s the hardest thing about being a paleo teenager?
The hardest part is the food. I prep mine over the weekend or the day before. It is also much harder to just walk into a restaurant and order something.
Q: What’s your favorite recipe on your blog and why?
That is a tough one! My favorite recipe is probably my sticky chicken recipe. I also love the grape leaves, maple bacon wrapped pork, honey sesame chicken and my BLTG (bacon, lettuce, tomato and guac) hamburger (I really can’t decide).
Q: What advice do you have for other young people for eating healthier in the teen to twenty something world?
My advise is to always have some staple foods such as apples, bananas, bacon, nut butter, sweet potatoes, nuts, etc. It is just hard to go out for a long period of time without these foods.
Q: Any other words of wisdom?
Don’t get discouraged when it gets hard!
