Paleo Thanksgiving 2014 Roundup

November 22, 2014 by Heather Resler

It’s almost Thanksgiving! I love this holiday for so many reasons: football, family, and of course food.  Here’s a roundup of the best paleo and gluten-free Thanksgving recipes from around the interwebs.  I’ve linkup up AIP options, squeaky clean paleo, and some more indulgent choices that are gluten-free but may contain some more sugar or gluten-free grain flours.  Enjoy!

The Turkey – Three Amazing-Looking Recipes

Butterflied Big Bird from Nom Nom Paleo (use duck fat in place of butter for AIP).  This recipe looks simply amazing.  Too bad I can’t eat my computer screen.

Moist and Delicious Roasted Turkey From Jen’s Gone Paleo. (Use duck fat in place of ghee for AIP) Ghee, truffle oil, herbs, and a turkey? Count me in!

Turkey Breast in the Crockpot from One Organic Mama.  (Don’t use paprika, pepper, or nutmeg for AIP) This one looks soooooooo easy and delicious, and the recipe has built in cranberries and vegetables!

The Gravy

Squeaky clean paleo:  Herb Gravy from Elana’s Pantry (also AIP) – thickened with pureed onion! Genius!

AIP: Country Gravy from Nourish Your Temple – This is a white gravy that looks really delish!

Gluten-Free (Also paleo): Umami Gravy from Nom Nom Paleo – You’ve probably seen this recipe on Pinterest at one time or another.  Looks like an amazing addition to a paleo Thanksgiving.

The Rolls

Squeaky clean paleo: Paleo Dinner Rolls from Paleo Spirit.  These look legit, and are totally grain-free!

AIP: Autoimmune Paleo Dinner Rolls from The Curious Coconut.  Yes, you read that right; dinner rolls that you can have on the AIP!!!

Gluten-Free: Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls from My Gluten-Free Kitchen.  These rolls use almond, rice, tapioca, and potato flour.  Definitely not the end of the world as far as ingredients, and boy do those rolls look amazing!

AIP: Mashed Yucca from Paleo Digest (use coconut butter)

Gluten-free: Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes from Steamy Kitchen.  These look seriously amazing.

The Stuffing

Squeaky Clean Paleo: Cauliflower Rice Pilaf from yours truly – This recipe tastes just like a good rice and sage stuffing!

Gluten-Free: Not Your Mama’s Green Bean Casserole from Food Network – This is the recipe I always make for Thanksgiving, substituting almond flour for the breading on the onions and arrowroot for the flour in the roux.

The Vegetables

Squeaky clean paleo: Honey Roasted Carrots  from Joyful Healthy Eats (omit pepper for AIP)

AIP: Stovetop Brussel Sprouts with Bacon from yours truly!

Gluten-Free: Grain-Free Apple Dumplings from Primally Inspired – You could make these as the only dessert and I’m pretty sure everyone would be happy.
